Surprising San Antonio | Super Detailed Guide π
I was recently on a work trip in San Antonio and took some time to explore the city. I didnβt have high expectations at first, but it ended up being quite a pleasant surprise! π Downtown Riverwalk ππππ The downtown area is surrounded by small canals, lined with hotels, restaurants, and shops on both sides. You can take a sightseeing boat tour along the river β the water isnβt the cleanest (probably because it's man-made), but the vibe is unique! Not many top-rated restaurants here, but Iβd recommend Iron Cactus for solid Tex-Mex. π₯ La Panaderia Bakery ππππ This Mexican-style bakery/breakfast spot is a long-time local favorite β the line is always crazy no matter when you go. Someone at my hotel told me everyone in San Antonio knows this place. I ended up ordering online and picking it up the next morning β zero wait! β³ Theyβre known for their round croissants, which are huge and come with different fillings β definitely unique! But the egg tarts were way too sweet for me. With not many competing bakeries around, Iβd still give it a solid 4 stars. ποΈ Historic Market Square πππ About a 20-minute walk west of downtown, this square is filled with little stalls selling Mexican street food (cheap and filling!), live music, and lots of souvenir shops (though they feel pretty repetitive). Good for a relaxed stroll β plan for 1β2 hours here. π The Pearl πππππ This neighborhood is an absolute hidden gem β hardly mentioned online! Once a brewery, now transformed into a modern, artsy district popular with locals and young crowds. Youβll find cute cafΓ©s, a great concentration of restaurants, and a lovely riverside path perfect for a peaceful walk. On weekends, they host a farmers market too! π½οΈ Restaurant recommendations: Best Quality Daughter (Asian fusion) Brasserie Mon Chou Chou (French) Carriqui (Southern/Tex-Mex) β CafΓ© pick: The Local Coffee β great for working or studying! #TravelDiary #CulturalSpots #SanAntonio #Texas #ExploreLocal πβ¨
