Swiss Food Recommendations | Zurich
Actually, I want to speak up for Switzerland and say, who says we're a food desert? Fondue is really, really delicious. π« First stop (Figures 1-8): The fondue spot I highly recommend, the name is in Figure 3. Initially, I planned to book a century-old restaurant in Zurich's old town that was super popular with the little π , but I couldn't get a reservation even three days in advance. So, another Swiss person suggested another place he often goes to, saying: "No one will rush you off, they offer decent and non-touristy fondue." Indeed, it's wise to listen to advice. This place is really decent, located next to a beautiful hotel, inside a wooden chalet (Figures 7-8). While ordering, I couldn't help but capture the beautiful scene in Figure 4. After dinner, when I looked up, I saw the Milky Way, and for the umpteenth time, I exclaimed: Switzerland is truly a wonderful place... I'd rate the taste π― (I even secretly took a photo of the cheese they used and bought the same kind at the supermarket before leaving to recreate it at home). There are two types of bread to accompany the fondue, one is the regular sliced bread, and the other is cute and chewy, linked together like Yunnan fermented tofu hhh. Since there were many of us, we also ordered a cold cut meat platter and schnitzel. Although I swore never to eat this again when leaving Vienna, you must try the schnitzel here! It's different from Vienna's - the crust here is crispy and crunchy, while Vienna's always feels like eating a piece of leftover fried pork chop. π« If I have to mention a downside to the first restaurant, it's that it's a bit far from the city center, hence the second recommendation, which is right in the city center. I can't remember the name, but it's just a few steps down from Zurich Cathedral. This was actually the first fondue we had in Zurich, and it tasted really good at the time! But after comparing it with others, I still think the first place is more fragrant. This fondue has a stronger wine flavor; if you come, you can ask the waiter to add less wine. The same bread and potatoes are served, and we also added a serving of chicken. This chicken is very well-grilled, very flavorful and tender when eaten on its own.
