Switzerland Travel Day | Capital Bern
Took the 🚂 from Zurich Hauptbahnhof and arrived in Bern (Switzerland’s capital) in 1 hour—perfect start to my Swiss adventure! 🌹 1. Rosengarten Bern (Rose Garden) 🆓 First stop: The iconic Rose Garden. Took the 🚌 from the train station straight here (it’s the farthest spot, but totally worth it!). Heard it rained heavily last night, so roses are scattered on the ground—chill vibe, and there’s an Einstein bench 🧑🔬 for photos with the genius. The hilltop view? Stunning—overlooks Bern’s old town like a postcard. 🌇 🐻 2. Bärengraben (Bear Park) 🆓 Walked down from the rose garden (5 mins!) and—boom—saw 🐻!A friend studying in Bern said she’d never spotted any, but I got super lucky 🍀—lunchtime meant at least 3-4 bears were out napping, playing, or splashing in the pond. So cute, I could’ve stayed all day! 🚶♀️ 3. CityWalk Kickoff 🐛 Crossed the bridge from the bear park to the old town—four paths to choose from, but I took my time (small town, no rush!). Here’s my route: 🌟 Bern City Hall (Rathaus) 🏫: The main entrance has a stunning clock—so detailed, I stared for 10 mins. 🌟 St. Peter and Paul Church (Kirche St. Peter und Paul) ⛪️: Gothic architecture with colorful stained-glass windows—perfect for quiet reflection. 🌟 Kindlifresserbrunnen (Child-Eating Fountain) ⛲️: Quirky 16th-century fountain on the old town’s main street—great for quirky photos 🤳 (locals say it’s a “mystery” why the giant is “eating” kids… but it’s just folklore!). 🌟 Zytglogge (Clock Tower) ⏰: Bern’s most famous landmark—don’t miss the hourly show (starts 4 mins before the hour!). Mechanical figures spin, bells chime, and a rooster crows—pure joy. 🌟 Einstein House (Einsteinhaus Bern) 🧠: Closed at 5 PM (last entry 4:45 PM!). Tickets: 7 CHF (adults), 5 CHF (students); Swiss Travel Pass holders get 5 CHF (adults)/4 CHF (students). Peek into Einstein’s old study—his desk, chalkboard (with half-solved equations!), and personal items are so inspiring. 🌟 Bern Minster (Cathedral of Bern) ⛪️: Don’t miss the small park behind it—panoramic views of the old town and Aare River. Climb the tower for even better vistas (if you’re up for stairs!). 🍽️ Dinner: Restaurant Terrasse Schwellenmätteli 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 My friend booked a riverside spot with dry ice effects 💨—perfect for sunset over the dam 🌇. The ambiance? Impeccable (5/5). Food? Delicious (4.5/5). Price? Reasonable (4/5 for the view alone!). 🎁 Swiss Souvenirs to Bring Home • Marmot Oil (Murmeltieröl): Found at pharmacies—great for joint/muscle pain (7-in-1 benefits!). Perfect for grandparents 🧓👵. • Mandelbärli (Almond Bears): Soft, chewy, and no head (weirdly cute!). Sold at Beck Glatz Confiseur near the main station—unique Bern flavors you won’t find elsewhere. Bern is more than a capital—it’s a mix of history, nature, and gemütlichkeit (coziness). From rose gardens to bear parks, and dry ice dinners to almond bears, this day trip was pure magic. Ready to explore? Pack your walking shoes and let Bern surprise you! 🐻🌹 #SwitzerlandTravel #BernTravel #BernFood #SwissSouvenirs #SwissTravelGuide #BernRecommendations #TravelSwitzerland #HiddenSwissGems
