Syria | Bird's-Eye View of Damascus - Latest Qasioun Mountain Guide
It's been a while since my last hike. Passing through Qasioun's chaotic, crowded neighborhoods, the area carries a faint "slum" vibe. Along the way, I encountered all sorts of people - curious adults staring intently, and enthusiastic children constantly greeting us. Most locals were quite friendly, though some displayed rather poor manners, freely sharing their "colorful" vocabulary. The stone steps are tough on the knees. You can choose to enjoy the view from the mountainside, or push to the summit if you're fit enough. The layered panorama reveals a completely different side of Damascus. π« Admission Free π Transportation π Minibus: To Shamdeen Square, then transfer to Qasioun area and hike up π Taxi: From Old City to closest viewpoint access point (see Fig 2) or near Taqwa Mosque (~40,000 SYP) β Don't use "Mount Qasioun" as destination - many drivers don't know exact viewpoint locations #AsiaEuropeAfricaLoop #TransEurasianRoute #Syria #SyriaTravel #Damascus #DamascusHotels #DamascusPalaceHotel #ChineseHotelDamascus
