Szeged | New Synagogue | Travel Photography 📸✨

In Europe, if you're looking for a place that's quiet indoors and architecturally stunning, a synagogue or church is always a perfect choice. Though I'm not a religious person, every time I step inside one of these sacred spaces—whether sitting or standing—my mind instantly grows calmer. Gazing at those unfamiliar yet divine objects, I can't help but reflect on myself, even feeling a sense of unintentional repentance. This time, I visited the New Synagogue of Szeged 🕍. After some research, I learned that this is: ✔ The 4th largest synagogue in the world ✔ The 2nd largest in Europe (For reference: The largest is in New York, the 3rd in Jerusalem, and the 2nd/1st in Europe is in Budapest!) What’s truly astonishing is that Hungary—a small country with a modest economy—boasts two of the world’s top four synagogues! 🎭 This likely traces back to the 19th century, when the Austro-Hungarian Empire granted Jews full citizenship rights, leading to a significant Jewish migration into Hungary and their integration into various industries. 📸 Photo Tips Golden Hour Magic: The stained glass casts ethereal light patterns in the afternoon. Silent Respect: Photography is allowed, but keep voices low. #Europe #Hungary #Szeged #JewishHeritage #TravelDiaries
