This is the birthplace of world wine, with over 8,000 years of winemaking history š· Described by Lonely Planet as the most beautiful town When I slowly raised my drone, I discovered it was like a "sky-high city" nestled in the Caucasus Mountains If you have enough time, I highly recommend staying overnight Stroll along the cobblestone streets, watch a sunrise or sunset š And soak in the romance and tranquility š Transportation: Tbilisi ā Sighnaghi š Samgori Bus Station, 10 GEL/person Departure times: 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 18:00 (mostly punctual, takes about 1 hour 40 minutes) The latest return time from Sighnaghi is 18:00, so a day trip is entirely feasible š Must-Visit Spots & In-Depth Experiences š 1ā£ļø Classic Photo Spot: Sighnaghi Viewpoint This place captures the essence of the town! Red rooftops, church spires, and snowy mountain backgrounds form a classic "fairy-tale town" panorama. Highly recommend waiting here for a sunrise/sunsetāsuper romantic š 2ā£ļø Red Wine Ice Cream: Cafe Medea 7 GEL per serving. Personally, the red wine flavor isnāt as strong as expected, but itās quite tasty. Paired with the terrace view, sitting here and daydreaming is pure blissļ½ 3ā£ļø Family Winery: Kerovani Winery Feels like quite a few Chinese tourists visit hereāthe host speaks fluent Mandarin. Theyāll take you to the cellar, explain their traditional Qvevri winemaking process, and offer tastings of different wines. I tried a set for 45 GELš°, including sparkling wine, white wine, red wine, and dessert wine. 4ā£ļø Ancient Walls: Sighnaghi Wall Known as the "Great Wall of Georgia," built in 1762. The visitable area is much smaller than I imagined. 5ā£ļø 24-Hour Marriage Registration Office Sighnaghi is famous for its non-stop marriage registration service, though itās no longer 24/7 post-pandemic. š” Accommodation Apartment Giorgi in Sighnaghi Steps away from the main attractions, with views of St. Georgeās Church from the yard. The room is clean and includes breakfast. P.S. Thereās even a cat š that joined me for breakfastāso cute! Upon arrival, the host will ask if youād like tea or wine. When in Rome, why not start with a glass of š·? (Typical wine town vibes, lol) š½ļø Dining Tried the popular hilltop restaurant The Terrace Signagi. Around 150 RMB per person, but the food was just okay. The view, however, is greatāoverlooking the entire town. If you want a terrace seat in the evening, reservations are recommended. Donāt get your hopes up for the restaurants hereāI couldnāt even find instant noodles at the supermarket.
