Taqueria El Rey Mexican Restaurant | Helsinki 🌮

🌟On the evening of 4.30, during Finland's Vappu Carnival, many shops and restaurants close early. Not sure what to eat, I stumbled upon a Mexican restaurant, Taqueria El Rey, nearby on Google and decided to give it a try. 🌟Upon arriving at the restaurant, the waiter informed us that due to Vappu, all seats were fully booked and there were no available spots. Just as we were about to give up and leave, we heard the waiter speak Spanish. Seizing the moment, we decided to try our luck and chat with the waiter in Spanish to see if we could get a table. We mentioned that we had lived in Mexico for a few years and were visiting Finland, with friends recommending this restaurant. The waiter, seeing our sincerity, asked if we would like to sit at the three empty high stools by the window. And so, we managed to secure a seat in the fully booked restaurant... 🌟That day happened to be the restaurant's 9th anniversary celebration, and they were offering free wine and mojitos. On the menu, we spotted classic Mexican dishes like Guacamole and Pico de Gallo. We ended up ordering pork and beef tacos, a Ceviche, a children's meal, and a glass of Mexican tequila. The authenticity of a taco can be judged by its salsa. The three types of chili salsa provided by this restaurant looked very similar to those in Mexico, and upon tasting, the flavors were essentially indistinguishable. 🌟The roasted pork in the taco, with its dry and fragrant flavor, combined with juicy tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and salsa, instantly opened up our taste buds, as if we had been transported back to Mexico. The long-missed flavors were nostalgic. The Ceviche was also good, very refreshing and palate-cleansing. 🌟It was a very successful restaurant exploration. Flavors indeed have memories.
