Teppen Ramen Review ๐
Last week, I indulged in one of my all-time favorites, Momosan. This week, I decided to try something new. Teppen Ramen has been all the rage lately, so I figured it was time to give it a shot! ๐ ๐ฑNo beating around the bushโI went straight for the priciest and most loaded option: the Maji Ramen. When it arrived, the toppings were indeed generous, piled high on top. But they were mostly cold and needed to be pushed into the broth to warm up. ๐ Quick rundown of each element: Noodles: Decent, nothing spectacular. Broth: Didnโt try it; this was the only ramen place Iโve been to that didnโt offer a spoon. I didnโt ask for one either. ๐ฑ On one hand, I was feeling lazy. On the other, I looked around and no one else seemed to have a spoon. Maybe the idea is to drink the broth straight from the bowl? But I wasnโt feeling that, so I skipped it. ๐ฅ Bamboo Shoots: Thick-cut and simple, but super crunchy and delicious. ๐ฅ ๐ฑ Egg: More like a soft-boiled egg, not really marinated. Bean Sprouts: There were so many that by the end, I was wondering if there was more sprouts than noodles! ๐ฑ Corn: Didnโt finish it; too hard to pick up without a spoon. Meat: Nothing special, just okay. ๐ฑ Overall verdict: A decent option for a work lunch, a bit pricey. Not worth making a special trip. The nearby Totto Ramen and Hidden Chan are better choices. ๐ Feeling a bit underwhelmed after spending $29 (plus tax and tip). I think Iโll revisit Nishida-ya next week to soothe my soul. ๐ #MidtownLunch #TeppenRamen #NewYorkJapaneseRamen ๐๐
