Texas Austin BBQ Star-Chasing Adventure 🍖✨

When in Texas, barbecue is an absolute must! After trying many spots in California that always felt like they were missing soul, I made it my mission to eat BBQ every single day here in Austin. I followed the Michelin guide to three starred barbecue spots and here's my comprehensive review, complete with personal favorites and misses. 🌟 LeRoy & Lewis What We Ordered: 🥩 Beef Ribs 🥩 Beef Cheek 💖 🥩 Iron Flat 🧅 Onion Rings 💖 🍹 Sake Paintaker We arrived over an hour before opening on a weekend and secured a spot near the front of the line. The service was absolutely top-notch: they provided sun protection umbrellas and let us order drinks and snacks while waiting - no hungry waiting around! We got the 2 meats + 2 sides plate and added beef ribs separately. Important note: special menu items like pork ribs, beef ribs, and chicken come in family-style large portions and can't be ordered in the regular plate. The beef ribs (1.8 lbs for $70) were quite pricey and high in fat content - budget-conscious diners or those who prefer leaner meats should take note. The star was undoubtedly the beef cheek that the staff highly recommended: perfect pink doneness, melt-in-your-mouth texture - pure happiness with every bite! For sides, both the kimchi and kale Caesar salad were refreshing and cut through the richness; the onion rings were a surprise highlight - sweet without the sharp onion flavor, so good even someone who normally avoids onions couldn't stop eating them. 🌟 Interstellar What We Ordered: 🥩 Peach Tea Pork Belly 💖 🥩 Brisket 🥩 Short Rib with Chimichurri 🥩 Polish 1963 Sausage 🌮 Lamb Taco 🌮 Beef Brisket Taco The most popular and longest wait among the three spots - we waited nearly two hours on a Friday noon. The peach tea pork belly was truly exceptional: the fat had almost completely rendered down, with a subtle fruity aroma - rich but not greasy. Other items were more standard, and the lamb had a noticeable gaminess that I wouldn't recommend. 🌟 La Barbecue What We Ordered: 🥩 Brisket 🥩 Pork Rib 💖 This place is a "blessing for lazy diners" - you can order online in advance, pick up at the restaurant, and dine in directly with no waiting needed. The brisket was average, but the pork ribs were cooked to perfection - falling off the bone with rich aroma, absolutely outstanding! 💫 Summary & Tips Budget planning: Specialty large-portion meats are pricey, best for sharing Queue strategy: Arrive at least 1 hour early for popular spots, or choose reservable restaurants Ordering tips: Start with classics, then add specialties based on your appetite This star-chasing journey was overall satisfying - finally tasted Texas barbecue with real "soul"! Hope this guide helps you plan your own Austin eating adventure~ #MichelinRestaurantReview #BBQ #FoodieAdventure #Austin #Texas #TexasBBQ #TexasFood #FoodReview #BarbecueLover
