Texas US-Mexico Border | One Wall, Two Worlds

Texas US-Mexico Border | One Wall, Two Worlds 🌵🇺🇸🇲🇽 Finally made it to the great state of Texas! This time I headed to the border hub El Paso—driving east along I-10 from Arizona, through New Mexico, straight to Anthony, TX in 4 hours, spotting that classic, welcoming “Welcome to Texas” sign 🚗💨. In that moment, the wind from the Western wilderness hit me, carrying the gritty scent of dust and freedom. 🧱 The US-Mexico Border Wall: Two Worlds, One Divide Navigated directly to Anapra Road, Sunland Park, NM, 88063 (fun fact: this road actually belongs to New Mexico!), and followed it to the end where Border Wall #357 stands. That tall, silent iron fence rises from the desert, its rusted surface covered in graffiti and messages—anger, longing, hope 🎨✍️. I passed two patrol vehicles on the way; officers kindly signaled I could take my time with photos but reminded me to carry valid ID just in case. Standing by the wall, I could clearly see the houses and streets of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico—children running in the dust, dogs napping in the sun—so close, yet feeling like entire universes apart. 🌄 Overlooking the Border from Above: A Sunset Light Poem 📍 Scenic Drive is a winding mountain-view road, and from Murchison Rogers Park you can take in the full border panorama. I arrived just before sunset, watching the desert turn gold and crimson, then as night fell, the red “X” marker on the Mexican side lit up brilliantly, while Texas opposite sank into quiet darkness—sharing the same sky, yet living two starkly different realities 🌇✨. 🍖 Texas BBQ: Rough, Smoky Comfort for the Road-Weary Most anticipated of all—Texas BBQ! Visited an old spot called Rudy’s “Country Store and Bar-B-Q.” Pushing open the wooden door, the rich smoky aroma greeted me. Ordered a plate of brisket and pork ribs—tender, flavorful meat with a caramelized bark, paired with pickles and onions, plus an ice-cold Dr Pepper—now that’s the taste of Texas! 😋🔥 ⛽️ Gas Price Bonus: $2.20 Happiness Oh, and I filled up at $2.20/gallon! Probably among the lowest in the US (roadtripper’s delight 🎉). With gas prices soaring lately, this “Texas perk” made me want to hit the gas a few extra times~ This border journey showed me geographic markers, cultural blends, and life’s contrasts. A wall can be a division, but also the start of a conversation—just like this land, both wild and tender. #Texas #Texas #USMexicoBorder #BorderWall #USRoadTrip #NewMexico #USGasPrices #ElPaso #ElPaso #Texas
