The Best Fried Fish in All of the Netherlands!
After visiting the Mauritshuis Museum, I found this amazing fried fish stand right in the square – highly recommend! It’s called Buitenhof Herring Stall on the map, just a small snack stall. No worries if you don’t speak Dutch – you can just order by looking at the pictures. They only have three main options: fried cod, fried mussels, and you can pair them with bread 🥯 and various sauces. It’s super popular, and even the official “foodies” of The Hague – the seagulls – approve! 😋 If you walk away with your food, a hungry seagull might swoop in and steal it, so watch out! 🕊️ Must-Try Dishes: Fried Cod (Kibbeling) 🐟: €8.5 per serving. This one’s a Dutch favorite and my top recommendation! It’s incredibly crispy on the outside, with tender, flavorful fish inside. Add a bit of tartar sauce – perfection! 😍 Fried Mussels: €7.8 per serving. Coated in a thicker batter, tasty and satisfying. Herring: €2.9 each. Freshly marinated and a must-try Dutch 🇳🇱 delicacy! Hold it by the tail 🤏🏾, tilt your head back, and slide it into your mouth in one go. The fish is very fresh, but it’s raw, so it might be a bit fishy for some. A little raw onion 🧅 on top helps cut through the flavor! #FoodieLife #Netherlands #DutchEats #TheHague #FriedFish #FishAndChips
