The Biggest Little City in the World

🚶‍♂️✨Nevada’s second-largest city—known as the “Divorce Capital” and the “Biggest Little City.” Much like Las Vegas, Reno dazzles with glamorous casinos on one side and unhoused individuals struggling on the streets on the other . Yet, I witnessed a touching moment today: a kind Black woman walked up to a man lying on the ground in a public square and gently asked, “Hey, you all right? You can’t lay down here like that—you scare people. Hey, you okay?” It reminded me that there are always good people in this world. Those without homes aren’t scary—they’re just people who, like anyone else, have lost their way at some point. It’s so easy for Americans to get lost. A colleague who once lived in Mexico told me, “What you fear in others is what they fear in you. And you’re tall and strong—you have nothing to fear.” Today’s route: 1️⃣ From GSR Hotel to Reno Arch 🚖 A quick 10-minute Uber ride—affordable and perfect for a working traveler like me who explores under the excuse of eating 😄. The arch is a new landmark (there’s an older one near the auto museum). The area is packed with casinos and feels like downtown—beautiful at night, but I ventured out at midday since I’m cautious and my coworkers prefer staying in. Speaking of which, my colleagues barely leave the hotel—working on reimbursements on weekends, eating at casino restaurants… It feels like they haven’t mentally adjusted to being abroad yet. 2️⃣ Stroll around Truckee River Walk District 🌊 The riverside scenery is lovely: tourists taking photos, locals feeding geese (against the rules ⚠️), families with strollers, church bells ringing, people experiencing homelessness resting here and there, vibrant casinos, and stunning murals covering entire buildings. Against the backdrop of distant snow-capped mountains and the flowing river, you’ll definitely find meaning in wandering here. 3️⃣ National Automobile Museum 🚗🎫 $15 admission to a national-level car museum. It covers nearly every European and American car brand—you could easily spend a whole day here if you read everything. 4️⃣ Mexican Restaurant (30m from the museum) 🌮 Cheap, crowded, and serving authentic Mexican food. Essentially, everything is chopped into small bits and wrapped in tortillas 😂. I ordered a Mexico Lindo for $18—way cheaper than casino dining. 5️⃣ Uber back to the hotel 🏨 Reno—a city of contrasts, compassion, and quiet beauty. Another day, another walk, another story. #US #Florida #Jacksonville
