The Blue and White Town
📍Perched on the cliffs northeast of Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, lies Sidi Bou Said – a village that seems to have been painted straight from a dream. Every wall gleams white, every door and window shines in brilliant shades of blue. I wandered through winding alleys washed in this serene color palette, snacking on sfenj (a North African doughnut) 🍩 and stopping to pet lazy street cats 🐈. At the edge of the Tunisian Bay, I ordered a steaming glass of mint tea 🍵, let the Mediterranean breeze sweep over me, and lost a whole afternoon to post-rock melodies and daydreams. 📍 Café des Délices The view here is undeniably stunning – overlooking the Mediterranean and a yacht-filled marina. But beware: they handed me a fixed price without a menu 🚩, and only after insisting did I receive what locals call a “two-faced menu” – one price for tourists, another for locals. A simple mint tea cost nearly ¥40 RMB, outrageous by Tunisian standards. 💡 Worth it for the photos? Maybe. For the vibe? I left and found a quieter spot. Beyond the blue and white charm of Sidi Bou Said, I spent my days near a local beach in Tunis . There, I sat alongside Tunisians, sipping mint tea or strong coffee, sharing a shisha pipe 💨, and watching the deep blue sea. Old men fished, young couples whispered secrets, and teenagers played soccer on the sand. We stayed until sunset, until the blue hour fell, then headed home to buy vegetables for dinner. It’s in moments like these that I feel it deeply – how beautiful a slow, simple life can be. 💙 #Turkey #Sidi BouSaid
