The Elegance of the 18th Century 🖼️

🎨The “small but beautiful” Parisian museum, Musée Cognacq-Jay, is a gem of a gallery that focuses on the decorative arts of 18th-century French life. 🎨The collection at Musée Cognacq-Jay comes from the art collection of Ernest Cognacq, the founder of the Parisian department store Samaritaine, and his wife Marie-Louise Jay. 🎨Upon Ernest Cognacq’s death in 1928, in accordance with his will, the approximately 1200 pieces he carefully selected during his lifetime, mainly from the 18th century and especially from the Age of Enlightenment (le siècle des Lumières), were bequeathed to the City of Paris. This donation gave birth to this small museum named after the couple. 🎫 Free entry #ParisMuseums #ArtGallery #ParisHiddenGems #Rococo #OilPainting #Aesthetics #DailyRefinement
