The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum: A Living Art Garden in Boston

🌟The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is a private museum located in Boston and is my absolute favorite treasure trove of art in the U.S. 🥰! With more than 7,500 pieces from various parts of the world and in different styles, it’s not just a museum but also a living art garden where flowers, art, religion, and history entwine and flourish 🌺. 🌟For instance, the blooming greenhouse isn’t just home to springs of water, but also features Chinese bronze bells, Buddhist statues, and steles, creating an unexpected yet delightful combination. The courtyard is a year-round bloom of flowers and lush greenery, which is rearranged seasonally—making the venue itself a living artwork. Looking down from the third floor onto the courtyard, you’ll see classical galleries surrounded by vibrant life. 🌟This century-old museum was once the home of the collector Isabella Gardner, who married the shipping magnate John Lowell Gardner Jr. With her considerable wealth, she acquired numerous art treasures, which she bequeathed to the public for education and enjoyment. The building is in an Italian style, with three floors of galleries showcasing masterpieces by Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt, and more, along with precious furniture, tapestries, sculptures, Japanese screens, and Chinese antiquities—I’ll share some of the Chinese collections I saw and the famous billion-dollar theft case in my next posts. 🌟The current autumn exhibition is themed around “family”: 1. Manet: A Model Family; 2. Mary Ellen Mark: Seattle Family, 1983-2014 🌟“Family is at the heart of the Gardner Museum’s autumn exhibition, but family is complex. How can these relationships, depicted through brushstrokes, uncover tangled roots, celebrate joyful connections, or catalyze new creations? How does family and kinship inspire artistic creativity?” 🌟The autumn exhibition runs until January 20th, so if you want to see it, you’d better hurry up! 🎟️ Adults: $20 Students:$13 Under 18s: Free Book online at gardnermuseum.org #ArtExhibition #AmericanTravel #TreasureMuseum #Art #MustVisitMuseum #Rembrandt #Art #Boston #Raphael #ArtMuseum
