The last stop on the Garden Route

Port Elizabeth, the fourth-largest city in South Africa, is a coastal city with a harbor and a dock. It is also close to Addo Elephant National Park. However, the city itself doesn't have many attractions. It's mainly the last stop on the Garden Route, where people usually transfer to Johannesburg. 💖Activities: ✅ Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum A free art museum with mostly local Port Elizabeth artists' works. The number of exhibits is not large, but the styles are diverse. It's worth a visit if you're passing by. Just be cautious as the surrounding area is a bit messy. ✅ Addo Elephant National Park It's more suitable for self-driving. It's 43 kilometers away from the city center. If you're traveling alone, you can only join a tour group, but the cost-performance ratio seems average. 🚌Transportation: From Plettenberg to Port Elizabeth (PE) I booked a bus ticket online. On the day I traveled, only Intercape had an afternoon bus passing by. I boarded at the Shell gas station on the N2 highway in Plettenberg, which is 1.5 kilometers away from the town. The ticket cost 350 rand (about 140 RMB). The ticket said the bus would depart at 16:30, but it actually arrived at 17:30. The journey took 4 hours, and I arrived at the Intercape waiting room at 336 Cape Road in Port Elizabeth at 21:30. I took a taxi to the city center, which was 7 kilometers away and cost 70 rand (about 28 RMB). You can directly use Uber. 🏡Accommodation: 18 on Sherlock A large double room for 450 rand (about 180 RMB). The room is spacious with an en-suite bathroom, TV, and a small fridge. The place is newly renovated, and the facilities are quite new. It's a 500-meter walk to the restaurant area. Located on a hilltop, it offers a view of the harbor. The surrounding area is relatively safe. 🍽️Eating and Drinking: 📍Groundfloor Café A café with an outdoor area. A large cappuccino costs 38 rand (about 15 RMB), and a banana caramel South African pancake is also 38 rand. It's a good place to stop by for a drink or a quick bite. 📍Izakaya Arata Specializing in ramen and sushi. I ordered the pork neck ramen for 116 rand (about 46 RMB). The taste is not very authentic. The noodles are a bit thick and soft, and the pork is not stewed enough. However, it's good enough to satisfy your craving. #AfricaTravel #SouthAfrica #PortElizabethTravel
