The Mark | The Preferred Palace for the Met Gala (2)๐
โญ๏ธThe Evolution of The Mark The Mark Hotel, with its red brick and green roof, has stood at the intersection of Madison Avenue and 77th Street since 1927. ๐ ๐ In the 1990s, the hotel was chosen by Georg Rafael, the founder of the Regent brand, to become the North American flagship of Rafael Hotels, which operates top-tier hotels in Munich, Zurich, and Bermuda. ๐ In 2000, it became the first Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York after the acquisition of the Rafael hotel group by Mandarin Oriental. ๐ฐ The Mark was acquired by the Alexico Group in 2006. ๐ ๐ The Mark enlisted French designer Jacques Grange, who has designed private residences for fashion icons such as YSL, Karl Lagerfeld, Princess Caroline of Monaco (Grace Kelly's daughter), the Estรฉe Lauder heirs, and Franรงois Pinault, the head of Kering Group. The goal was to create a luxury hotel that is both exceptional in quality and avant-garde in style. #NewYork ๐๐
