I was treated so poorly at the Frederic Fekkai salon that I couldn’t believe it was happening. I didn’t take my clues seriously enough and rebooked even though he wouldn’t be in again for a month. It wasn’t because he was on a holiday. It was because this is how he runs his business. He’s hardly there. You’re not advised when you are a new client until it’s too late. And you need a haircut then. I went to the salon of my late hairstylist John Barrett of 25 years and asked for a stylist. I went back to Frederic on December 12, they canceled my December 5. It took four calls to finally get an appointment. They kept putting me on hold. I decided there maybe a list of preferential clients and I’m not one of them. My 75th birthday was on the 9th AND I am not used to a bad hair day especially on my birthday. He was annoyed with me. He said my hair looked terrible. He said it had too many layers. I wish I left the chair in that moment. Instead I took his patriarchal abuse and told him I tried desperately to get an appointment with him. I stayed for my pedicure, manicure and make up appointments following his. I later learned he comes in specifically for clients AND he only has a few. I understood that without knowing. I had the sense there is a preferential clients’ list AND I’m not on it. While I’m waiting for Fekkai the manicurist asks, “ would you like to have a manicure later.” I looked at her in disbelief and said, “ I have a pedicure and manicure scheduled following this haircut.” After my first haircut with Frederic Fekkai he said, “You’re a changed woman.” I thought it’s a cute haircut. I wouldn’t go that far. My thought, he has a big EGO! I wasn’t wrong.
My experience is that Fekkai is an arrogant unfriendly driven “Type A frequency” guy who lacks compassion. He is rough unkind abusive in a sea of a poorly trained unprofessional staff in an equally poor designed small salon unable to accommodate a high end clientele with dignity and grace. When it was time for me to have my pedicure, Fekkai was in the small space sitting on the one bench sprawled across the bench having his lunch. I had to wait in the lounge while he finished his lunch during my appointment time.
Please do not call me. We clearly are on a different frequency. I am coming from a place of love, compassion and heart. I am sending you compassion, love and heart for your journey while on this planet!
May you see the light!

Read moreI have been a client of the salon ever since it was at 57th street, more than a decade ago. The salon has certainly change through the years. It used to be a provider which absolutely understood luxury & was able to cater to a high end clientele. Now it is a caricature of its glory days. As a client, which in the past frequented the salon as much as 3 times a week, I have been almost saddened to see its continuing decline. Today I was admonished by the general manager for being late to my appointment in front of two staff members manning the front desk. Regardless of my lateness, this is completely unprofessional and there is no excuse for the action. It is offensive, and it would be so even to an employee. If there is something to be discuss, minimum standards of politeness require privacy. COVID or not management should not be able to get a pass on rudeness. In the past, I have witness the salon bent over backwards for the occasional self proclaimed VIP visitor, however peculiar or difficult, notwithstanding the cumulative meager earnings from these clients. I am a mild manner, courteous and generous client. In the past, I have waited for service at rush times, and I have tolerated gracefully a change of appointment on the 24th of December because my requested stylist called in sick at the last minute. Salons do not run with the precision of a Patek Philippe as we all know. Unfortunately, I left feeling liberties to disrespect were taken perhaps because of my ethnicity. Shame,...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a reliable salon experience, do not get you hair done here if you want to avoid major unexpected additional charges. While Marie-Antoinette is a talented colorist and executed what I had on mind pretty well, there was a significant discrepancy in the price I was initially told. During a private consultation a month prior to my appointment, Marie-Antoinette assured me that the cost of the highlights would fall within the range of $180-$200. However, I was shocked when I was presented with a bill of $500. The manager then did a poor job handling the situation and was persistently not eager to help. I asked to speak with Marie-Antoinette about the misunderstanding, but was lied to about “her being too busy”. After saying I would be happy to wait, I saw her and she refused to look at me in the face and also told the manager she “felt uncomfortable discussing the situation that never happened”. Overall, very disappointed with the customer service and having to pay three times the amount I was told. This salon may also give you gloss or hair treatment during your session without notice that will add...
