The Most Detailed "J-Type" Itinerary Online – 3 Days & 3 Nights

▫️ Transportation From areas around Boston (BOS), the drive takes about 5 hours without traffic. If traveling on weekends, leave as early as possible to avoid traffic jams 🚗. ▫️ Accommodation: Mt. Desert Campsite The campsite closes at 6 PM. If you arrive after closing, staff will pin your check-in materials (including a map and safety notes) to the bulletin board at the entrance—just pick them up yourself. Bathroom and shower facilities are fully equipped, with hot water available. Showers cost $1 for 5 minutes, so bring plenty of quarters in advance (the camp office doesn’t exchange change). For purchases under $10, you can’t pay with a card, but you can charge them to your account and settle the bill when you leave. If you forget to settle and leave, it’s not enforced (but honesty is appreciated!). The office sells firewood at affordable prices (though it produces more smoke). There’s also a spot to buy coffee and ice cream—note that these aren’t free! ☕🍦 📍 Day 1: Explore Acadia National Park Park Entry Fee: $35 per car, valid for 7 days (unlimited entry during this period). Cadillac Mountain Access: If you want to drive up Cadillac Mountain, you need to pay an extra $6. Tickets for sunrise and sunset times are in high demand and must be "snagged"—they go on sale around 10 AM, two days before your planned visit. You cannot buy a ticket for Cadillac Mountain alone; it’s an add-on to the park entry fee. ▪️ Recommended Trails Beehive Trail: Several sections are steep and have metal handholds, making it fun and moderately challenging. Allow about 3 hours to complete it 🧗♂️. Ocean Path: A north-south coastal scenic trail with many viewpoints along the way. Popular spots include Sand Beach and Thunder Hole. For Thunder Hole, check the high tide schedule in advance—it’s more exciting when the tides are strong. Allow at least 2 hours for this trail 🌊. Jordan Pond: The "cover star" of Acadia’s promotions! There’s a flat loop trail around the pond, perfect for a leisurely walk 💧. All these spots are accessible by car, with nearby parking lots. However, parking spaces are limited, so arrive early if possible. 📍 Day 2: Bass Harbor Head Light Station & Bar Harbor ▪️ Bass Harbor Head Light Station Arrive early—parking spaces are scarce, and you may have to wait in line to drive in during peak hours. Allow about 1 hour for sightseeing and photos 🏴‍☠️. ▪️ Bar Harbor A coastal harbor with stunning views, ideal for photos. Spend time browsing souvenir shops and trying local treats: Lobster ice cream and blueberry ice cream: Recommend Ben & Bill’s Ice Cream—portions are huge, and one scoop is enough to fill you up! Duck Fat fries: Just "okay" (nothing special). Blueberry soda: Super delicious, highly recommended 🫐🥤. 📍 Day 3 Morning: Cadillac Mountain Here, you can see America’s first ray of sunrise over the ocean. We drove up directly but only managed to get a 6:00 AM ticket (so we missed the very first light). However, the light and atmosphere at this time are perfect for photos! There are many viewpoints along the way where you can stop and take pictures. Allow at least 2 hours for this trip 🌅. ▫️ Total Cost Approximately $450 for two people (including ~$250 for three nights at the campsite). #Acadia #AcadiaNationalPark #EasternUSTravel #BostonSurroundings
