The Most Stunning Art Museum in Philadelphia 🤍 Barnes Foundation
🌿A while ago, I visited Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art was the main attraction. Since the Barnes Foundation was nearby, I decided to check it out as well—what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! 🌿The foundation was established by Penn alumnus and industrialist Albert C. Barnes and his wife. The collection is based on Barnes' personal acquisitions. It's truly astonishing, valued at $25 billion, and includes 180 Renoirs, 67 Cézannes, 59 Matisses, 46 Pablo Picassos, and 7 Van Goghs. Some of the most famous pieces are Cézanne's "The Card Players," Van Gogh's "Postman Joseph Roulin," Matisse's "The Joy of Life," and Seurat's "The Model." 🌿The entire museum is designed in a modern style. Even if you were just there to appreciate the architecture, it would be worth the visit. The grand Matisse mural in the first-floor hall was commissioned by Mr. Barnes himself, and Matisse painted his beloved "Dance" theme. 🌿Visiting famous museums and art galleries can be quite tiring, as there are often many exhibits and the buildings are large. The Barnes Foundation, however, is a compact three-story building. Each gallery can display dozens of paintings, allowing you to take your time and appreciate them in one room. Mr. Barnes had a penchant for symmetry, and all the exhibits are displayed symmetrically, which is quite interesting. Another feature I enjoyed is that the more important galleries have a small central stool where you can sit and view the art. There's also a booklet that provides information on each piece in the room, so you don't have to look at each one individually. This is definitely an art museum I'll visit again when I return to Philadelphia. #BarnesFoundationArtMuseum #PhiladelphiaTravel #PhiladelphiaArtMuseum #Philadelphia #BarnesPhiladelphia
