The Most Surprising Itinerary in Bangkok: Jim Thompson Museum
Jim Thompson was once an American intelligence officer who chose to move to Bangkok after World War II and dedicated himself to promoting Thai silk worldwide, becoming a renowned Thai silk tycoon. Thompson's former residence has largely preserved its original appearance and his extensive collection. The entire building integrates Thai, Western, and Chinese styles, consisting of six teak ancient buildings. The residence showcases Thompson's taste everywhere, making it a very tranquil urban garden. Tickets can be purchased on-site, at 200 Thai Baht per person, including guided tours in multiple languages, with the entire itinerary taking 45 minutes. There is no need to make advance reservations for the museum, and there is a free shuttle service to National Stadium Station. If you are staying near the Siam shopping district, it is very convenient to walk, as it is a ten-minute walk from Paragon. What surprised me the most during the entire guided tour was Thai astrology. Thompson practiced astrology and moved into his home in Bangkok on a day recommended by an astrologer. The astrologer also warned him that something bad would happen when he turned 61. Just five days after his 61st birthday, he mysteriously disappeared while on vacation in Malaysia, and no one knows his whereabouts to this day. šļøššµļøāāļøšš”šæšš®š ā³š¶āāļøšš«šøš£ļøšššš #Bangkok #Thailand #BangkokMuseum
