The Orange Bird
Just moved and I'm exhausted from selling second-hand stuff, but I managed to squeeze in a visit to a restaurant. This is a South African restaurant that I had seen on social media but never got around to visiting. I thought the name meant the dishes would have a lot of oranges or citrus fruits, but it turns out it refers to the decor. The entire restaurant is in shades of orange. However, I felt that apart from the orange color, there wasn't much else related to 🍊🐦. The restaurant is quite small and located in a remote area, so much so that I was confused when taking a taxi there . The menu is just one page, not extensive at all. There are only five main dishes, and the side dishes and snacks are also limited. I forgot to take a photo of the menu, but we managed to order all the main dishes~ Fortunately, we had a large group, so everyone could try a bit. The food took a while to arrive, about half an hour. I was initially disappointed because it wasn't what I expected in terms of having oranges and it was so far away. However, the taste of the dishes surprised me. Snacks : When we ordered, they showed us a picture. There was a carrot-flavored bread, which was a bit difficult to cut but tasted great. It was sweet, chewy, and had a slightly carroty aroma. Another snack was a combination of cheese with sweet potatoes and red cabbage. This combination was quite unexpected and unique, but it tasted surprisingly good. Main dishes): We ordered all of them, including grilled fish, roasted chicken, pork neck steak, eggplant dish, and a dish that was almost entirely vegetarian (I forgot what it was). The grilled fish was very fragrant, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, but the fish might need some sauce to enhance the flavor. The pork neck was tender and not overcooked, it was okay but nothing special. The eggplant and green vegetables were also average. The roasted chicken deserves special praise. It was an amazing dish with a slightly sour and spicy fruity sauce (a bit orange-like). There was plenty of chicken, and it was not greasy at all. Even the breast meat was surprisingly tender! There were very few bones, and every bite was soft, flavorful, and satisfying. However, the chicken was a bit spicy, so those who can't handle spice should be cautious 🌶️. Drinks🍸: Since it's also a small bar restaurant, we had some after-dinner drinks. Nothing too special, but there was one called Orange. It had a low alcohol content and a slight orange flavor, a mild drink suitable for girls. Highly recommended: Roasted Chicken⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Please give it more stars if you can Grilled Fish⭐⭐⭐⭐4.5, I couldn't find a half-star icon Pork Neck⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reservations are required📖You can check the phone number on Google Maps.
