The Road to Sahara: Ouarzazate Solo Adventure
Arrived at Aït Benhaddou village around 5 PM—perfect timing to explore until sunset. The mud-brick fortress, built into the hillside, glowed under the golden light, with the desert and oasis creating a magical, almost surreal atmosphere. As a filming location for epic fantasy movies, it felt like stepping into another era, charged with incredible energy. Highly recommend staying overnight if traveling from Marrakech to the Sahara—sunset here is unreal! 🌅 🚍 My Solo Travel Route: Took the CTM bus from Marrakech (~5 hours) to Ouarzazate. My guesthouse host arranged a taxi driver to take me to Aït Benhaddou (37km one way). Cost: 300 MAD for round-trip + 1.5-hour wait (but my driver was SO kind—spoke some English, stopped at scenic spots, hiked to the top with me, and even bought me tea! I tipped an extra 100 MAD). The next day, he drove me to the bus station and helped me find currency exchange—legend! (DM me for his contact if you need a reliable driver!) 🌟 Why Visit? ✔ UNESCO World Heritage Site ✔ Filming location for Game of Thrones, Gladiator, The Mummy ✔ Best sunset views over the desert ✔ Authentic Berber culture & architecture #SaharaBound #MoroccoSoloTravel #Ouarzazate #DesertSunset #AïtBenhaddou #TravelAloneButNeverLonely #Wanderlust 🏜️✨🚖
