The Tallest Teaching Building in the United States: Cathedral of Learn
⛪️The Cathedral of Learning, known as the tallest teaching building in the United States and a landmark of the University of Pittsburgh, is commonly referred to as CL. With 42 floors and standing at 535 feet (163 meters), this Gothic-style building was initially constructed in 1925 and completed in 1937, making it the second tallest educational building in the world. Besides being the central landmark of the main campus of the University of Pittsburgh, it is also a renowned tourist attraction.⛪️ 🎭In 1925, when this building was constructed, there was a fundraising campaign called "Buy a Brick for Pitt" aimed at encouraging schoolchildren at the time. Each child donated a dime and wrote a letter to the University of Pittsburgh, explaining how they earned that dime for the construction of this landmark building.🎭 💒The design of the building is dominated by vertical parallel lines. Looking up from the bottom, one can see not only the majestic structure but also many vertical lines reaching into the sky, symbolizing the endless pursuit of knowledge for every student who comes here to study. The most famous feature inside the Cathedral of Learning is the Nationality Rooms, which have been designed since 1938 to reflect the cultural styles of different countries. These cultural styles are planned by representatives from each respective country, with a total of 27 Nationality Rooms available for teaching and visiting purposes.💒 #University #Architecture #StudyingInUSA #KnowledgeSharing #InternationalStudents #UniversityOfPittsburgh #BeautifulSceneryOnAJourney #NaturalScenery
