The Three-Hundred-Year-Old Coffee Shop in Paris

Retro French Cuisine on the Left Bank Le Procope, established in 1686, is a renowned three-century-old French cuisine restaurant, claiming to be the oldest coffee shop in Paris. It’s also one of the oldest cafes in the world. Napoleon once ran a tab here, and Voltaire and Hugo were also patrons. The restaurant specializes in 18th-century traditional cuisine. In France, many of these century-old establishments feature a rich, red-themed decor style, similar to Fouquet, La Rotonde, Bofinger, and others. I really love it 😘 🌟For cocktails, I ordered one named after the shop, sticking to the principle of ordering the signature drink when visiting a new place. It’s a vodka-based cocktail, refreshing and not too strong, quite nice. 🌟For the appetizer, I had the ravioles du dauphine, a cheese-filled delight that I absolutely adored, with a great dumpling texture. There was also a RAVIOLE DE LANGOUSTINES, a lobster dumpling, which is essentially a wrapper of dough enclosing lobster, with a very delicious broth, perfect for dipping baguettes. 🌟For the main course, I chose the FILET DE BŒUF DES RÉVOLUTIONNAIRES from the historical menu to see what this revolutionary beef was all about. It’s actually a combination of beef and foie gras, served with gratin potatoes and Bordeaux sauce. I had the beef cooked saignant, slightly bloody, which was very tender, and the foie gras was delicious. My favorite side was the potatoes. Another option was risotto with a delightful truffle sauce. 🌟For dessert, I had the panna cotta and the TARTE CHOCOLAT-CAFÉ SIGNÉE CHRISTELLE BRUA. The coffee tart is a must-try; the signature dish has a very rich coffee and chocolate flavor combination, perfect. The quality of this old establishment is still top-notch, and the prices are actually quite reasonable, around 60 euros per person. There’s also a 32.5 euro menu at lunch, which is quite a deal. #FrenchCuisine
