The Ultimate Guide to New York Jazz Bars(2) 🎶
Village Vanguard 🥂 The most renowned of the classic jazz bars. If you’ve heard Bill Evans Trio, you’re surely familiar with this place. 🌿🌟 Many iconic live performances from the 1960s were held here. From Bill Evans to Betty Carter, almost all of your favorite jazz artists have recorded a “Live at the Vanguard” album. The walls are adorned with vintage posters, like in the second photo, and there’s a great Tony Bennett/Bill Evans album poster by the exit. Tickets are $40, but there’s a $30 discount for the 10 PM weekday shows, which also includes a drink. 🌿🌟 These discounted tickets sell out quickly, so you might need to keep an eye out separately. It’s perfect for a dedicated visit to focus on the music. 🎶 Tomi Jazz 🥂 One of the hottest jazz bars in New York, famous for its 3-hour-plus wait. The doors open at 5 PM, so you must arrive by 4:30 PM at the latest. 🌿🌟 After 4:30, the queue grows exponentially. If you’re there before 4:30, you’ll definitely get a seat in the first batch, which means only a 20-minute wait. The food is generally decent Japanese izakaya fare, with plenty of carbs and comforting dishes. However, if the wait exceeds half an hour, it might not be worth it, given the many options in New York. 🌿🌟 The drinks aren’t as impressive as those at other bars, so I’d recommend having just a couple and then moving on. 🍸 #FusionJazz 🎶 #ArtisticBars 🎨
