The Ultimate Sushi Experience in the Arctic Circle

If you're in the Arctic Circle, you definitely need to try the best Japanese cuisine available—and there's only one place to go! On my last night in Longyearbyen, I decided to treat myself to something delicious after a week of eating survival rations in the snow. Breakfast at the hotel was always Western-style, either bread and eggs or yogurt and salad. For lunch, we'd have military-style compressed meals in the snow. And for dinner, it was usually reindeer or whale, which I was getting a bit tired of. 😂 I heard from the guide that the island has a significant Thai population, but unfortunately, the Thai restaurant was closed during my visit. So, I opted for Japanese cuisine instead.🥹 Highlights: 🍣Nuga Deluxe - 76 Bites (1450 kr / 107.3 gbp)💰 This was a massive platter with a variety of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. There were also tempura shrimp and other fried items. It was incredibly satisfying and more than enough for four people. We also ordered ramen because we were craving hot soup, but the broth was a bit lacking and the noodles were nothing special. However, the seafood was fantastic! 🍣Pork/Chicken Ramen (190 kr / 14 gbp)💰 As mentioned, the ramen was decent but not outstanding. The broth was a bit thin, and the noodles were average. Restaurant Details: 📍Name: NUGA Sushi & Noodles 📍Address: HOTEL 9170, THE VAULT SJ, Longyearbyen 9170, Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Norway Reservation: Highly recommended, as the restaurant is located inside a hotel and has limited seating. It's quite popular despite its small size. Personal Notes: Experience: The Nuga Deluxe platter was a highlight of my trip. The variety and quality of the seafood were impressive. It was a perfect way to end my stay in Longyearbyen.💰 Ambiance: The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a warm meal after a day in the cold. Final Thoughts: If you're in Longyearbyen and craving something different from the usual Arctic fare, NUGA Sushi & Noodles is the place to go. It offers a delightful culinary experience with a wide variety of Japanese dishes. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy some sushi in the Arctic Circle! 🍣❄️ #LifeIsFullOfFlavors #LifeInTheUK #Norway #NorwayTravel #NorwegianSalmon #Longyearbyen #ArcticCircle #JapaneseCuisine #FoodieAdventures
