The Versailles Exhibition in London: Technology and Splendor
The “Versailles: Science and Splendor” special exhibition at the Science Museum focuses on the technological applications of the Palace of Versailles. As someone not too keen on science but fascinated by French history and Versailles, I decided to check it out without hesitation. In fact, it’s interesting for anyone, regardless of their passion for science! The exhibition hall is divided into multiple themes, covering the water works, architectural layout, animal and plant husbandry of Versailles, as well as the development of medicine, mechanics, map-making, and more from the reign of Louis XIV to Louis XVI.🌟 Behind the science lies the progress and changes in society, culture, art, and military. The exquisite instruments and equipment are like works of art, especially the multifunctional clocks, which are the crystallization of human wisdom and beauty. 🤓 The early accurate maps of France, the massive encyclopedias, and the exquisite pocket watch custom-made for the Queen of the Guillotine (gossip: supposedly it was actually commissioned by Ferson) all left a deep impression. The ancient reproductive education props were also surprisingly ahead of their time. 😲 It was quite empty on the weekend, with French parents bringing their kids for patriotic learning, but I still recommend buying tickets in advance on the official website. 👨👩👧👦 #UK #UKLife #Museum #Versailles #Science #Exhibition #Art #Aesthetics #Paris #French
