This Is The Final Week To Experience Yayoi Kusama’s Immersive Mirror Room At SFMOMA

If you haven’t made it to SFMOMA to check out **Yayoi Kusama’s famous mirror room**, titled *Dreaming of Earth’s Sphericity, I Would Offer My Love*, now is the time! The popular immersive sculpture is scheduled to come down on **Sunday, August 10th, 2025**. Make sure you visit this week to experience the popular installation before it’s gone. The sculpture is a large **walk-in cube** with a white exterior that blends in with the gallery’s white surroundings. But once you step inside, the external light filters through colored holes and oversized acrylic dots, reflecting off mirrored surfaces to create a **dynamic, shifting environment**. Groups are allowed inside the room for 2 minutes at a time. *Dreaming of Earth’s Sphericity, I Would Offer My Love* first debuted at New York’s David Zwirner Gallery. It has delighted guests at SFMOMA **since October 2023**, when it opened as part of the museum’s surcharged [*Yayoi Kusama: Infinite Love* exhibition](https://secretsanfrancisco.com/kusama-exhibition-sfmoma/). The exhibition closed prematurely in May 2024, but the immersive room stayed on display for San Franciscans to continue enjoying as a stand-alone piece in the general museum galleries. You might know Yayoi Kusama for her giant **art displays in New York City** that went viral in early 2023. Her signature polka dots towered twelve stories above Fifth Avenue as part of a **Louis Vuitton collaboration**, which also featured a remarkably realistic animatronic of Kusama in the store window. At 96 years old, Kusama remains a groundbreaking force in **Pop Art, Minimalism, and pop culture.** She introduced her first mirrored installation in 1965, which evolved into the iconic Infinity Mirror Room by 2000. Since then, she’s created **over 20 of these immersive spaces,** earning widespread praise and captivating audiences around the world. While you’re at SFMOMA, make sure you also check out the ***Ruth Asawa: Retrospective*** [exhibition](https://secretsanfrancisco.com/current-upcoming-exhibitions-sf/), which features the prolific SF artist’s signature wire sculptures and prints. *Images:* *‘Yayoi Kusama, Dreaming of Earth’s Sphericity, I Would Offer My Love,’ 2023, installed in the exhibition ‘Yayoi Kusama: I Spend Each Day Embracing Flowers,’ David Zwirner, New York, May 11—July 21, 2023; Fisher Art Foundation; © YAYOI KUSAMA.
