Three Adorable Peregrine Falcon Chicks Were Just Born At Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, And You Need To See These Cute Photos

After weeks of tuning into the [peregrine falcon livestream on Staten Island’s Bayonne Bridge](https://secretnyc.co/peregrine-falcons-hatching-bayonne-bridge-livestream/), even more have been welcomed to New York City! **Three new adorable and health peregrine falcon chicks** have hatched in a **specially built nesting box atop the 693-foot Brooklyn Tower of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge**! The beautiful babies have also been named by Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Bridges and Tunnel—**two females named Genevieve and Marcella** and **one male named Skyforger**. The three babies were banded on Friday, May 23 as an effort to to protect the species, which still remains on New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s **endangered birds list**. This entire process of hatching birds is part of the city’s DEP annual sweep which involves research scientist Chris Nadareski climbing to the top of bridges and puts identifying bands on the newborn falcon chicks. Identifying bands help wildlife experts track of the number of peregrines in the city and identify them in case they become sick or injured! Take a look at all of the cuteness that are Genevieve, Marcella, and Skyforger.
