Thrive City At The Chase Center Will Host Free Ice Skating This December
This winter, Chase Center’s Thrive City will host numerous festive events, including a tree lighting ceremony, a Hanukkah celebration, and even free ice skating. Thrive City is a large complex surrounding Chase Center that frequently hosts events and is home to restaurants and other businesses. Every winter, the area hosts a Winter Wonderland featuring multiple holiday events. Free ice skating is one of the more popular pop-ups that happens every year, and it’s back for 2025 . The free skating will be available the last week of December , from December 23 through December 30, except on Christmas Day. The rink is first-come, first-served, but if you pre-register, you will receive priority admission. We recommend RSVPing in advance, as only a limited number of walk-up spots will be available. Skating sessions are 20 to 30 minutes long, and expect other people to be enjoying the rink at the same time. You can also expect complimentary rental skates (though a $5 donation to the Golden State Community Foundation is encouraged). The rink opens at 12 pm each day and is family-friendly . While you’re in the area, we recommend you explore one of the numerous restaurants, including Dumpling Time, Gott’s Roadside, Kayah by Burma Love, and many more. For dessert, we recommend stopping by The Baked Bear or the Cupcakin’ Bake Shop. Thrive City will also host a New Year’s Eve and Kwanzaa celebration with performances and a ball drop at noon. Thrive City isn’t the only ice rink in the area; Union Square hosts a pop-up ice rink every holiday season, although admission to skate costs $22 for adults. The rink is already open and will be available until January 19, 2026. You can learn more about Thrive City and make ice skating reservations here.
