Time-Traveling at the Canadian Museum of History! 🏺⏳
On November 15th, we left Montreal bright and early (9 AM sharp!) and drove to Ottawa to explore the Canadian Museum of History 🏺. Built in 1856, it’s one of North America’s oldest cultural hubs and a powerhouse for Indigenous and Canadian history. 🌍 Basement Level: Totem Pole Forest The basement holds the world’s largest indoor totem exhibit! 🌲🖼️ Eleven towering totems stood like ancient sentinels, echoing the ones I’d seen at the Royal Ontario Museum. Nearby galleries showcased canoes, hunting tools, and regalia—a vivid glimpse into Indigenous life. 🏰 Upper Floors: Canada’s Epic Story Two floors dedicated to Canada’s journey through time! 📜 🖼️ Artifacts (stone tools, pottery, bronze pieces) told tales of early European settlers, while 21st-century tech exhibits showed how far we’ve come. Many pieces were jaw-dropping—beautiful and historically priceless. 💡 Napoleon’s Mystery Medal Spotted a familiar Legion of Honour medal… but it wasn’t Napoleon’s! 🤔🏅 Awarded to William Logan in 1855 by Napoleon III, but why? That’s a mystery for another day! ⛰️ Post-Museum Adventure: Parliament Hill Crossed the river to Parliament Hill—a Gothic masterpiece! 🏰🏛️ The Peace Tower (92.2m tall) honored WWI fallen soldiers, and the eternal Flame of Hope burned bright for freedom and peace. 🔥🕊️ #OttawaVibes #HistoryBuff #MuseumMagic 🌿🏺
