TingTing’s Café | A Severely Underrated Hong Kong-Style Café
This spot in Chinatown has been open for a while, but its positioning felt awkward — too late for brunch, too early for a full lunch — so it’s been overlooked. Plus, almost zero posts on social media. Last week, a casual friends’ dinner led us here. I was skeptical, but first bite blew us away. A week of great meals started here. 🥬 Fried Brussels Sprouts Perfectly charred — crispy outside, moist inside, loaded with parmesan. My “I hate brussels sprouts” friend kept sneaking more. 🐔 Popcorn Chicken & 🦑 Calamari Rings On the drier side — I thought they were okay, friends liked them. 🍚 Main Dishes: 🥩 Baked Pork Chop with Cheese (Tomato Sauce) – Sauce well-balanced, rice flavorful, pork chop crispy-tender, cheese perfectly melted. Cleared instantly. 🍗 Baked Chicken Chop Rice – Extremely salty 😰. Thought it was a one-off, but a friend got the same issue with takeout the next day. 🍔 Pork Chop Bun – So good! Toasted bun, juicy pork — chef might be a Xia Li fan? 😉 🐮 Beef Brisket Rice – Large pieces of beef, decent flavor. 🍜 Creamy Seafood Udon – Server-recommended, rich and creamy — share to avoid getting 🐟 Grilled Cod Collar – Teriyaki-style, tender, tastes like a Japanese appetizer. 🥤 Silk Stocking Milk Tea – Friends called it “very silky” — authentic. Though there’s some inconsistency, this place has way more heart than most HK/Asian fusion spots. A friend joked: “This place really screams ‘I can’t name restaurants and I won’t ask for help’.” Service was super friendly — the server patiently took photos for us. If she sees this: thank you again! #Philly #PhillyEats #HongKongCafe #TingTingsCafe #ChinatownPhilly #HiddenGem 📸
