Tokyo Cultural Stroll: A Religious Pilgrimage(2) ๐
The Glorious Legacy of Byzantium - Tokyo Resurrection Cathedral (Orthodox) ๐โช๐ Departing from Tokyo Mosque, we transferred via subway to Ochanomizu Station and arrived at the magnificent Tokyo Resurrection Cathedral (Nikorai-do). Though we unfortunately missed the opening hours and could only take commemorative photos outside, its neo-Byzantine emerald-green domes and towering bell tower still left us in awe! โจ๐๏ธ This cathedral stands not only as a symbol of Orthodox Christianity in Japan, but also as a historic testament to the intersection of Russian culture and Tokyo. ๐ฏ๐ต๐ค Where History Meets Modernity - Kanda Shrine โฉ๏ธ๐๐ Next, we walked a short distance to Kanda Shrine. As one of Tokyo's "Ten Great Shrines," Kanda Shrine boasts over 1,300 years of historyโserving as both the guardian deity of Edo and a nationally renowned site for its spectacular Kanda Festival. The shrine's vermilion and gold-accented architecture glows solemnly under the sunset. ๐ Within its grounds, smaller shrines and the EDOCCO Cultural Exchange Hall add a modern touch to this ancient site, offering an array of traditional Japanese goodsโmaking it the perfect place for authentic souvenirs! ๐๏ธ๐ #Tokyo #HiddenGems #CulturalHeritage ๐ธ๐๐ธ
