Tokyo Day Trip: Gotokuji, Shimokitazawa, and Kichijoji (Part 1) 🐱✨

On my first day in Tokyo, I explored three areas in the city’s east: Gotokuji, Shimokitazawa, and Kichijoji. 🐾 Gotokuji Temple: As the birthplace of the Maneki-neko (beckoning cat), Gotokuji did not disappoint. 🌊🎢 From the moment I stepped out of the station, cat motifs were everywhere. The temple grounds are filled with thousands of beckoning cat statues left by visitors hoping for good fortune. 🌸🌿 I brought one home, hoping it would bring luck across the ocean to my house. 🛍️ Shimokitazawa: By midday, I arrived in Shimokitazawa, starting at BONUS TRACK near Setagaya-Daita Station and exploring the area around Shimokitazawa Station. The neighborhood is packed with quirky shops and charming stores. 🌸🌿 Unfortunately, Flash Disc Ranch was closed, but I stumbled upon CITY COUNTRY CITY next door, which was equally delightful. #Gotokuji #Shimokitazawa 🌇
