Tokyo Temples ๐ฟ
The Forgotten Komyo-in ๐ธ๐ #RecommendedSpot Komyo-in is probably my favorite temple from this trip. ๐It's a sub-temple courtyard of Tofuku-ji, and you definitely have to visit it on your way to Tofuku-ji. ๐ธ๐Walking from the garden into the tea room allows you to get up close and personal with the karesansui (dry landscape garden). ๐ ๐The interior design features multiple circles, each representing a full moon, which brings a sense of calm. There are very few people around, and you might not even see the temple staff until you go to buy a shuin (temple seal) at the side entrance. ๐ธ๐ It's perfect for a quiet and peaceful experience. ๐ Oldest Zen Temple๐ ๐ Kennin-ji โ Kyoto's oldest Zen temple, founded in the Kamakura period in 1202. ๐ธ๐ With over 800 years of history, it's the perfect place to sit and clear your mind. The temple is not crowded and exudes a serene atmosphere. ๐Inside the temple, there's a Chลon-tei (Tidal Sound Garden) โ a karesansui garden, and a pair of wind god and thunder god fusuma (sliding door) paintings. ๐ธ๐Kennin-ji was the first temple we visited, and it's where we bought our shuincho (temple seal book) to start our shuin collection journey. ๐ #ArchitecturePhotography #KyotoTravel ๐
