Tomo's Salmon Don is a Must-Try! Salmon Lovers, Save This Spot!
Today, I’m here to recommend a hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant in Old City, Philadelphia — Tomo! Their salmon rice bowl is easily one of the best I’ve ever had, and their Salmon Don is absolutely incredible! This was our first time dining in; we’d only ordered takeout from them before. And every single time, the Salmon Don was a non-negotiable must-order! 🥡 🍣 Salmon Don This bowl of salmon rice is pure satisfaction! A heaping bowl of rice is topped with five different types of salmon sashimi — over 10 slices total — so you can eat to your heart’s content! The salmon has an incredibly tender, smooth texture and is super fresh with zero fishy aftertaste. The salmon toro (fatty belly) is especially amazing! 🤤 Even better, the price is totally reasonable — only $25 per serving, which makes it super cost-effective! 🐟 Sashimi Deluxe We also tried their Sashimi Deluxe this time, which costs $40. It’s a combo of eight different kinds of sashimi, and overall, it was really good. For us, sashimi with no fishy smell is a surefire sign of freshness — and this delivered! Our favorite was, again, the salmon toro. It’s rich, fatty, and melts in your mouth instantly — total perfection! 👌 That said, the restaurant has other dishes too. We’ve only stuck to sashimi so far, but next time, we’re definitely trying their sushi and ramen! 🍜 P.S. A little funny (well, not so funny) side note: When we were dining in, there were quite a few elderly people around. The elderly couple at the next table… let’s just say they were quietly passing gas, and after doing so, they kept staring at our table. We basically ate the whole meal smelling that. But hey, it still didn’t ruin how good Tomo’s salmon tastes! 😂 📍 228 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19106 #PhiladelphiaFood #SalmonRiceBowl #JapaneseFoodTour #OldCityPhiladelphia #Philadelphia #JapaneseCuisine
