Top 1 Restaurant in Calgary, Canada: A Hit or Miss?
I finally visited the famous River CafΓ©. π Ranked among the top 1000 restaurants worldwide, top 100 restaurants in Canada for 2024 (23rd place), best overall restaurant in Calgary, and the best wedding venue for 2024... With 33 years of establishment, the awards keep piling up. π‘ The restaurant is a small wooden house located in Prince's Island Park, backed by the Bow River, offering a peaceful and romantic atmosphere amidst the hustle and bustle, perfect for a date. π½οΈ The menu features seasonal Canadian cuisine, with lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch available. Reservations are required, and I only managed to get a dinner reservation. Appetizers: π« [Benchmark Beef Tartare] Raw beef tartare paired with flaxseed crackers is delicious, with no gamey taste. π« [Wild BC Octopus] Oil and vinegar sauce with crispy fried octopus, crunchy and refreshing. Main Courses: [Rangeland Bison Striploin] ππππ A unique blend of ranch bison meat, ginger puree, Alberta wheat, and valley hazelnuts, with tender bison meat. [Hog Wild Boar Belly] ππππ Combining the tenderness of wild boar with the crispness of green cabbage, the smoothness of mushroom puree, and the rich flavor of XO sauce. [Farming Worx Duck Breast] ππππ Red cabbage, apple, Ontario black walnuts complement the smoky duck breast and the salty fragrance of bacon. [Haida Gwaii Halibut] ππππ Halibut paired with potatoes, radish soup, cream lettuce, and butter, which I quite enjoyed. [Lambtastic Farm Lamb Sirloin] π My friend took a bite and found the taste too bland, not recommended, with only the taste of lamb and nothing else. π Overall, these dishes are commendable, the taste is passable, and the service is excellent. My friend was disappointed with the lamb, only eating a couple of bites before leaving, so the waiter directly comped the lamb for my friend π. Has anyone tried their brunch? If it's delicious, I'll go back next time~ π : River CafΓ© π: 25 Prince's Island Park, SW π°: Dinner for two is about $80 #Calgary #CalgaryExploration #CalgaryCuisine #CalgaryPeaceBridge #CalgaryPrinceIsland
