Top 20 Hidden Gem Restaurant: ALvis Creative Fusion German Cuisine
Day 10 of our European journey, and for dinner, we checked in at ALvis, a restaurant ranked in the top 20 in Germany 🇩🇪. 📰 Background Introduction: ALvis specializes in a sophisticated fusion of traditional German cuisine with modern creative twists, emphasizing the use of seasonal ingredients to offer a dual delight for the taste buds and the eyes 😋 🥘 Dish Recommendations: Chef Wolfgang Kanow of ALvis introduces a special three-course menu for €39 every month. “September’s New Menu Package” Recommended: Pumpkin and Potato Soup with Baked Plums - a typical autumn classic 🥔🎃 The smooth and creamy soup base, made from pumpkin and potato puree, is rich and comforting, topped with baked plums for a deliciously layered texture. The main course of the set menu was a very tender steak 🥩 with a flavorful sauce, paired with roasted bread and a salad. The Vinaigrette dressing on the salad 🥗 was super refreshing and appetizing, with a perfect balance of vinegar to cut through the richness without being greasy. Thumbs up! The dessert in the set menu, featuring pear 🍐, was good but lacked a bit of the unique flair and memorable touch compared to the separately ordered red wine pear. From the main menu, we ordered the Pink Roasted Duck Breast with Potato-Pine Nut Mash and Amarena Cherries 🍒. The Italian Amarena cherry sauce deserves a special mention❕ - its sweetness paired perfectly with the duck. The potato mash 🥔 was smooth but could have used a bit more pine nut flavor. The duck was cooked to perfection, not dry at all, with a crispy layer on top that was ideal for mixing with the mash. Overall, this dish gets a higher recommendation than the steak. For dessert, we tried the Poached Red Wine Pear with White Chocolate and Baileys Ice Cream. The pear was crisp and juicy, perfect for autumn and winter. The ice cream was delicious but came in a small portion. 📝 Dining Experience + Summary: We walked in at 7 PM without a reservation. The host was very welcoming, and the seating layout in the courtyard was comfortable. The bread 🥖 with butter was aromatic, and the staff promptly cleared the table after each course. The entire dining experience from seating to finishing lasted an hour without any drag. The atmosphere was serene, making it a definitely worth-a-try hidden gem restaurant‼️ #FoodieDiary #HiddenGemRestaurant #GermanCuisine #BerlinCuisine #BerlinFoodHunt #GermanyTravel #BerlinTravel #RestaurantRecommendation
