Top Choice for a Date ! Centuries-Old Building with a View 🌟
Every time I passed by Market Square, I saw lots of people enjoying coffee outside. I thought it was just a café or bar, but it turned out to be a hidden gem of a restaurant featuring Asian and British seasonal cuisine! The atmosphere is cozy and chic, with great value for money, and the view and location are fantastic. It's definitely on my list for gatherings and dates! 🍽️ 😋 The menu is divided into Asian and British sections. Just let the waiter know which one you prefer when you enter. The Asian section includes Chinese, Japanese, and Korean dishes (the braised pork is amazing), while the British section offers classic dishes with fresh daily ingredients (there's even a daily mystery box of fresh produce). We chose British and were seated upstairs, where the romantic interior design with a magpie bridge theme was really impressive. 🌌 Market British Recommendations: 🥗 For starters, the Torched Mackerel and Chicken Liver Parfait were fantastic. The mackerel was a personal favorite, bursting with flavor! My friend's chicken liver parfait was also delicious. 🦌 For the main course, we both chose the Venison Red Wine Sausage. It's not often you get to try venison, and it was indeed different from regular pork sausages—fresher and more flavorful. Desserts were the Chef's Dessert of the Day (today was apple pie and poached 🍐) and Baileys Affogato. They were not only beautiful but also delicious and sophisticated. 🍹 We also ordered a pomegranate and elderberry cocktail. Sometimes, just sipping a drink by the window and enjoying the view is perfect. The bustling Market Square, with its lively crowds and couples in vintage cars, made for a very relaxing experience. 🐟 The Catch of the Day mystery box was a surprise. Today it was salmon, but we were still drawn to the venison. We'll definitely try the mystery box next time. 🍄 I heard their new little mushroom dish is incredibly delicate and perfect for dates—great for photos and taste. 💰 Our average spend was £35 for three courses, which is great value! The restaurant is in Market House, a 200-year-old building with a memory wall showcasing the history and stories of Market Square, which is nearly 400 years old. The wall is also protected by the government as a cultural heritage site. The Asian section on the lower level even has a history of Market Square's fountain. It's truly a historical and cultural dining experience! In addition to offering Asian and British cuisine, coffee, and a bar, Market House also hosts Cambridge's cultural events, with private meeting rooms and party areas similar to CR. The Cambridge Spring Festival's drink reception is held here too! It's the epitome of Cambridge's chic dining scene. #Cambridge #CambridgeRestaurants #CambridgeFoodRecommendations
