Toronto | ✨ Hotopia | New Dishes, Same Classic Taste, Consistent Quality!

One-line review: Generous portions, unique flavors, new menu unlock—so exciting to try! 💯 Personal ratings (out of 10): Taste: 8/10 Ambience: 8/10 Value for money: 7/10 Overall recommendation: 8/10 A while back, I had some sour fish at another spot, but it didn’t hit the spot for me. That made me miss the Golden Soup Sour Fish from Hotopia, one of the OGs in the GTA! The fish bones are fried, the fish slices are tender, and the golden broth is tangy and refreshing—it was a hit when they first launched it. Feeling nostalgic, I decided to head back to Hotopia in Scarborough. While I went in with my mind set on the classic, I was pleasantly surprised to find out they’ve released a brand new menu! 🎉 These are definitely not pre-made dishes but thoughtfully crafted new items. Of course, being someone who loves trying new things, I just had to give them a go! 🐟 Supreme Frog and Fish Pot: An impressively large portion and absolutely delicious! The black fish slices were tender and smooth, and the frog meat was flavorful. Though it was oily, it didn’t feel greasy at all. Personally, I think it would’ve been even better if it were spicier! We loved this dish so much that we nearly cleaned the entire bowl. 🐐 Sichuan Spicy Lamb Spine Tower: Another huge portion—this really was like a mini mountain of food! The lamb spine had been marinated for 4 hours, so the flavors really soaked in. The broth was so tasty that we poured it over rice, and it was even better. I think adding some tofu puffs to the pot would have made it perfect! There was so much food that we had to pack half of it up to take home, and using the leftover broth to make noodles was a brilliant idea! 🦐 Garlic Vermicelli Shrimp: The bed of vermicelli was covered with shrimp that had a strong garlic aroma from the oil drizzle—heavenly! 🫛 Dry-Fried Green Beans: Cooked just right—perfectly crispy and seasoned to perfection. The whole meal was super enjoyable. To top it off, we even played a little spinning wheel game and won a small prize! You can really see how much effort the restaurant puts into creating a great experience for their customers, and I hope more people keep coming back. In summary: This veteran restaurant, through its new menu, shows its continuous dedication to food. Definitely worth trying again! 👌 #FoodieAdventures #TorontoEats #TorontoLife #TorontoFoodie #RestaurantReview #ScarboroughEats #FoodDiary
