Toronto DT | Secret Michelin Star Dining at $50 per Person ✨
Alo, the renowned restaurant in Toronto that has topped the Canadian restaurant charts for years and recently earned a Michelin star, is well-known and hard to book, with reservations needed two months in advance and an average cost of $200 per person. However, compared to Alo upstairs, Aloette, the sister restaurant run by chef Patrick Kriss downstairs, feels like a charity… With its rich ingredients, creative dishes, affordable prices, and relatively easy booking, how can this place be so amazing?! First, let me rave about the complimentary pre-meal bread 🍞: Warm, fluffy, and free, it’s a true delight. The Potato Cheddar Brioche with Roasted Yeast Butter is simply heavenly. The bread’s lingering warmth melts the butter perfectly, creating a soft yet substantial texture that never feels greasy. If sold separately, I’d buy it every week! Foie Gras $26 🦢: Foie gras mousse paired with grape puree is a brilliant combination. The smooth, creamy foie gras has a rich, buttery flavor with chunks of meat for texture. The grape sauce adds a refreshing touch, and the smoked grapes and hazelnuts enhance the taste. Spread a bit on the crispy toasted bread, and it’s an otherworldly experience—pure satisfaction! Prawn Ceviche $18 🍤: A refreshing appetizer with half-cooked large prawns and Peruvian sweet pepper sauce with a hint of spice. It’s somewhat similar to the ceviche at Baro but still distinct. Iceberg Wedge $18 🥬: This salad is absolutely stunning! Crisp, halved iceberg lettuce loaded with toppings: puffed rice, fried soybeans, honey nuts, pickled onions, and radish slices. The gaps in the lettuce are filled with avocado cream 🥑, cheese crumbles, and vinaigrette. Each bite is layered and full of surprises, making it one of my favorite salads ever. Aloette Burger $24 🍔: This burger is a signature dish. The soft, milky bun encases a solid beef patty, topped with grilled cheese, crisp lettuce, and tangy onions. It’s enormous, so you’ll need a big mouth to take a bite! The fries are unexpectedly special 🍟—simple potato sticks but incredibly sweet when fried, paired with a standout Bloody Mary aioli. Even as someone who isn’t a fan of fries, I couldn’t resist having a few extra bites. Lemon Meringue $12 🍋: Maybe I was too full, but the lemon tart seemed a bit too sweet and rich. It’s okay but not a must-have—might be better to skip it. Address: Aloette, 163 Spadina Ave Type: Restaurant #Toronto #TorontoEats #TorontoRestaurants #TorontoDT
