🚄 Tottori Day Trip
➡️ Transportation From Okayama to Tottori, you can take the direct JR Super Inaba train, which takes 1 hour and 50 minutes. Compared to coming from Osaka, it's actually a bit faster. This train is all reserved seating, so either book online when you get your JR Pass or reserve your seat at the information desk or green machine. There aren't many trains a day; we took the 9:13 AM train and chose the 18:58 PM train back, giving us plenty of time for most of the day. You could also choose the 4:30 PM train. When we got off, we unexpectedly saw the Conan JR train on the opposite platform, full of childhood memories! ➡️ Attractions Conan Town is about an hour's drive from these Tottori attractions and requires an overnight stay to visit, which doesn't fit my one-day trip plan. Other attractions can be referred to on P17. @Tottori Prefecture Tourism and Exchange Bureau told me that you can charter a car for 4000 yen for 3 hours, with dozens of routes for you to choose from on P18, which is very suitable for special forces. Turn right after exiting the station and find the information desk to plan your taxi route! A 3-hour tour can easily catch the 4:30 PM train back to Okayama! Since we had plenty of time, we chose to go to Tottori Sand Dunes first and spent 2.3 hours there. Then we chartered a car from Tottori Station to the farther Urabu Beach and Shiratama Shrine! ✅ Tottori Sand Dunes We adjusted our schedule based on the weather forecast just to have a sunny day at Tottori Sand Dunes! Half sea, half sand, it's very spectacular! Take the bus from the station entrance to Tottori Kaikan, have lunch there, and next to it is a café designed by Kengo Kuma P11. Cross the road, and you'll find the sand dunes. Climbing to the top of the sand dunes, dads can take their kids all the way down to the sea. The kids will be very happy! ✅ Jozankei Coast & Urabu Coast I personally think it's just so-so. Jozankei needs to be climbed down, but some paths are not easy to walk on, and some are flooded. Urabu has an island with a torii gate, and the seaside is relatively more beautiful. There are sightseeing boats here, but we went late, and the boats closed at 3:30 PM. ✅ Shiratama Shrine & Shiratama Coast The shrine is small, and the only fun thing is that it's full of rabbit statues. Kids like it very much, and it's cute. It's popular here to throw stones. It's said that if you throw a stone onto the top of the torii gate, you'll have a good marriage. The kids were throwing stones there tirelessly. Cross the road, and you'll find Shiratama Coast. It's very beautiful when the sun is shining. Watching the sunset on the bridge makes you feel that the years are quiet, and it's very fresh like a Japanese drama. #Tottori #Shiratama Coast #Shiratama Shrine
