🚂💔 Tränenpalast: The Love That Pierced the Berlin Wall 💔🚂🌟

🌈 This summer, I visited a museum in Berlin that I'd like to share with you all – the Palace of Tears, or Tränenpalast. 🏰💧 🛂 The Tränenpalast, or Palace of Tears, was a checkpoint at Friedrichstrasse station, which once divided East and West Berlin. Here, family members, friends, and lovers bid farewell to each other, facing an uncertain future, tears streaming down their faces. 👥😢 🎭 Beyond the grand historical narrative, the Tränenpalast seems to focus more on the ordinary people who experienced hardship and longing. In a quiet corner, through a few small items, the museum tells a small story: 📆 In 1984, 16-year-old Katja traveled to East Germany with her church and met Markus in East Berlin. They bid farewell at Friedrichstrasse station, and the church pamphlet Katja left behind seemed to be the only trace of a love story with no future. 💔📖 🏰 However, the fall of the Berlin Wall created new possibilities for them. The photos and postcards displayed in the Tränenpalast bear witness to their first holiday with their child in Portugal. 🌳👨‍👩‍👧 📚 This is just one of the many stories. Passports filled with stamps, tableware and ornaments in suitcases, group photos, and handwritten letters... These everyday items, as part of the archive, record the real life of that time. 📜✍️ Perhaps this is the charm of old objects! 🌟 #TravelNotForCheckIns #Archives #MustVisitMuseums #Berlin
