🪡Traditional East Timorese Weaving: Tais Cloth
Tais cloth is a traditional weaving form created by the women of East Timor 🇹🇱 and is an essential part of the country's cultural heritage. 🪡 Tais textiles are used for ceremonial decorations, as a sign of respect and appreciation for guests, friends, and relatives 👌, as well as for home decor and personal attire. The Catholic Church in East Timor has also incorporated Tais cloth into its rituals. ⛪️ 🪡 The way Tais cloth is worn varies by gender: 👨 Men traditionally wear Tais Mane (meaning "male cloth"), a large piece of fabric wrapped around the waist, often adorned with fringes. 👩 Women wear Tais Feto (meaning "female cloth"), a strapless tubular dress. A third type, Selendang, is a long, narrow cloth worn around the neck and has gained popularity in recent years. 🥻 The "RUI COLLECTION" proudly presents the beauty of Tais (BELEZA TAIS TIMOR LESTE), showcasing the artistry and cultural richness of East Timor. #EastTimor #EastTimoreseCulturalHeritage #EastTimorTourism #EastTimorHandicrafts #TaisCloth
