Trattoria Sostanza
A Trattoria beloved by both locals and tourists, this place offers a traditional Tuscan-style steak. Large, aged beef cuts are placed on a grill and cooked over charcoal, resulting in a balanced flavor with a perfect combination of charred and tender textures.π»π»π» Compared to the steak, I actually preferred their butter chicken breast. The chicken is marinated in melted butter, absorbing the flavor fully. A quick sear over high heat creates a perfect caramelized layer. The dish is served straight from the pan, with fresh lemon juice drizzled over it. The sizzling hot pan and oil cause the lemon juice to bubble and release a fragrant aroma. Each bite combines the savory chicken, buttery richness, and fresh tanginess, making it incredibly flavorful and not greasy at all. I devoured it in just three or four bites.β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ In addition to the chicken, the salad at Sostanza also left a strong impression. A couple of tomatoes drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with pepper, topped with a few basil leaves, might sound like a simple dishβalmost like a "white person's meal"βbut in reality, it's perfect. When you're about three-quarters of the way through your meal, adding this refreshing element makes the whole experience even better. The local tomatoes have a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, and the aroma of the olive oil really elevates the dish.πππ When I asked the chef if I could take a photo of the kitchen, he initially waved his hand menacingly and made a "give me money" gesture. After about five seconds, he burst into laughter and said, "Just kidding!" before kindly inviting me in. Now I realize that the Italian sense of humor is truly unique.πππ #Florence #Trattoria #SimpleFood #IsSimpleFoodReallyFood #BabyFood #TallGuy
