Travel | 🇮🇹 Florence's Worker's Canteen - Big Portions, Great Value!

Our first meal after getting off the train! This 4.5🌟 Tuscan-style restaurant on Google Maps offers a "poor man's meal" similar to McDonald's value menu—but way tastier! From 12-3PM (lunch hours) , they serve a 12€ set menu that includes: ❶ Primo (1st course): Pasta, risotto, etc. 🍝 ❷ Secondo (2nd course): Meat, fish, or main dishes 🥩🐟 ❸ Drinks : Water + ¼ bottle of wine (red or white) 🍷 ❹ Extras : Coffee (+1€) ☕ / Dessert (+4€) 🍰 When we arrived, a line of locals was already waiting outside! Took about 20-30 mins to get seated—worth it! We each ordered the set menu. My picks: - Tomato risotto (so rich!) 🍅 - Roasted beef carpaccio (tender & flavorful) 🥩 - Sweet potatoes (but not too heavy—ate every bite!) 🍠 Wine Pairing Tip: 🍷 Red wine = red meat (beef, lamb) 🥂 White wine = white meat (chicken, fish) *(But hey, drink what you like! No rules in flavor town!)* 😉 --- The Story Behind the Name: "Ostaria dei Centopoveri " = "Tavern of 100 Poor People" 💕 In Florence, nobles & churches once hosted a feast for 100 poor people during Carnival's last Sunday—a tradition of charity. Opened in 1992 , this spot keeps that spirit alive with hearty Tuscan meals ! #Foodie #ItalianCuisine #Florence #TravelEats #BudgetFriendly #WinePairing
