Travel Guide to Bratislava, Slovakia

My Trip to Bratislava, the Hidden Gem of Europe 🤡 After visiting Budapest and Vienna with my friends, we decided to meet up somewhere and add another country to our itinerary. We chose Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, where three countries meet. It's one of the least-known European capitals, but definitely worth a visit! 🚂 Transportation Tips - **Budapest ➡️ Bratislava**: A 2.5-hour train ride (around €15) that takes you directly to the main train station near the Old Town. - **Vienna ➡️ Bratislava**: A 1-hour bus ride (€17) that drops you off at the central station, which is even closer to the Old Town. 📍 Itinerary: From a Fairy-Tale Church to the Castle 1. **Blue Church (St. Elizabeth Church)** - 💙 Mint-blue exterior with creamy white carvings – it's super girly and charming! The weather was overcast, so the photos didn't turn out as great as they could have, but it's still a must-see. 2. **The Plumber Statue (Čumil)** - 🛠️ A must-visit in the Old Town! This statue of a "man at work" is said to bring good luck if you touch his head. The cobblestone streets around it feel so medieval. We even stumbled upon a marathon, with many roads cordoned off. 3. **St. Martin's Cathedral** - ⛪️ We got lucky and caught a free midday string music concert at 1 p.m. Listening to Bach under the Gothic vaults was an unforgettable spiritual experience! 4. **UFO Bridge (Nový Most)** - 👽 Futuristic flying saucer design! The €8 entrance fee gets you access to a 360° glass viewing platform. On a clear day, you can see Austria and Hungary from here – it's amazing! 5. **Bratislava Castle** - 🏰 A 15-minute walk uphill from the city center. The white castle on the hill looks like an upside-down table. The view is spectacular, and the museum inside offers insights into the castle's history. We even found the same scooter that the princess rode in "Roman Holiday." Watching the Danube River turn golden at sunset was incredibly romantic. 💡 Practical Tips - ✔️ You can take a bus from the train station to the Old Town and pay with a Visa card directly on the bus. - ✔️ The euro is accepted in Slovakia, and most shops allow card payments. - ✔️ You can buy train tickets from Budapest to Bratislava on the P10 app using a Visa card.
