Travel Notesο½2-Day Maine Highlights Trip π
Day 2 was all about exploring Portland β and wow, this city is so convenient! Every attraction is within a 15-minute drive ππ¨. Lighthouse Hopping ποΈβ π Portland Head Light β Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse β Bug Light We visited three lighthouses from north to south. Only Portland Head Light charged for parking β the others were free! Though it was cloudy and drizzly βοΈπ§οΈ, the moody coastal vibe had its own charm β less βInstagram-perfectβ but more atmospheric! Scenic Train Ride π π Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad A 40-minute ride passing through iconic spots in the city. $16 for standard class | $21 for first class (includes drinks & snacks π₯€πͺ). Would be even better on a sunny day! Local Eats π½οΈ π Beckyβs Diner A popular family-style diner! Since weβd already overdosed on lobster rolls π¦, we tried the fried scallops and clam chowder β solid choices! π ISF Trading The uni (sea urchin) was fresh but lean β not as sweet or rich as expected. Skipable unless youβre a hardcore uni fan. π The Holy Donut π© As donut connoisseurs, we approve! Not too sweet: Old Fashioned Savory-sweet bombs: Maple Bacon & Holy Cannoli π Gorgeous Gelato π¦ Authentic Italian gelato β must-try local blueberry flavor! π« Shopping & Strolling ποΈ π Fore Street Full of unique local boutiques π¨ β especially handmade ceramics and art. Much more interesting than Commercial Street! π Parking Tip: On Sundays, look for street parking β most public lots charge $20/day! Serendipitous Detour π On our way back, we made a pit stop in Newport, Vermont β a tiny lakeside town with a stunning gray-blue lake ποΈ. The peacefulness was unrealβ¦ I couldβve sat by the water all day π. A beautiful reminder that sometimes the best moments in travel are the unplanned ones. #Maine #VisitMaine #Portland #TravelDiary #NewEnglandVibes
