Traveling with Dogs 🐶|Spring 2025 · Boise, Idaho
#Boise — the capital of #Idaho — is about a 10-hour drive from the #BayArea with similar sunny weather 🌞. Not only is it surrounded by natural beauty, but the city itself is vibrant and super dog-friendly 🐕! It’s the perfect spring #RoadTrip destination. A must-visit spot for all dog owners is Together Treasure Valley Dog Island 🏞️. This huge off-leash dog park right in downtown covers 5.4 acres (approx. 22,000 m²)! With open grass, shady trees, little hills, and a pond, my dog had the time of his life — didn’t want to leave! 😂 Right next to it, the Ann Morrison Park Duck Ponds 🦆 are full of cute ducks — we even spotted batches of adorable ducklings! The area also has several connected parks and large lawns perfect for walks and picnics 🧺. There’s plenty more to see, eat, and do in the city. Here are some places we tried: Fork 🍽️ A restaurant focused on fresh ingredients and local partnerships. We got: → Asparagus fries (surprisingly crispy and tasty!) → The B.C.S. salad 🥗 → Idaho rainbow trout 🟢🐟 → Prime rib 🥩 Everything was hearty and delicious. Their mashed potatoes are super smooth — highly recommend! The Wylder 🍕 A trendy spot known for pizzas. We ordered: → Mushroom toast 🍄🍞 (rich, creamy, and filling) → Honey Badger pizza (their most popular — uniquely delicious!) 👍 Barbacoa Grill 🔥 A “concept restaurant” famous for flame-grilled steaks and dramatic presentation. We tried: → Tuna tartare → Idaho trout 🐟 → Rib eye 🥩 The food was decent but didn’t fully wow us. The server really tried to upsell us on the “fire show” even though we didn’t order the flame steak — we kindly passed 😅. The outdoor seating with lake views is nice though (when it’s not windy!). The STIL 🍦 Standing for “The Sweetest Thing In Life” — a cool ice cream shop with boozy options. We sampled four flavors. The Honey Bourbon was our favorite! 🍯🥃 #DogFriendly #TravelWithPets #BoiseEats #IdahoAdventures #SpringGetaway
